Cheque for $7,200 presented to Parkinson’s Victoria.

On the 30th October 2019 we held a club social night. Twenty-eight members and partners had a great night out at JUST ITALY (the Artisan Food & Wine Store), in Dandenong Rd, East Oakleigh

While a bit squeezy in the special private room, there was lots of discussion and camaraderie at the first social outing of our New Club. All seemed very satisfied with the degustation menu – the delicious Italian food just kept coming!

Our Special Guest was Jo Hansen Chief Operating Officer Parkinson’s Victoria. At the function Vice President Anne Mooney made a presentation of the funds raises at the recent Spring Garden Auction Night to Parkinson’s Victoria. A cheque for $7,200 was presented to Jo Hansen.

In her acceptance remarks, Jo announced that since Huntingdale Rotary held the first Garden Auction Night in 2015 the function has raised over $45,000 for Parkinson’s Victoria.

“This donation of $7,200 brings us to over $50,000 raised.!! “

“All the funds raised go towards supporting those with rare conditions of Parkinson’s – Atypical and PSP Parkinson’s, these conditions are very progressive, chronic and lifelong.   This year we commenced a brand-new program, the first of its kind in the country where our PSP Peer Support Group was supported by a social worker, who not only supported those who lived with Atypical Parkinson’s conditions, but provided much needed support for carers too. The funds raised from this year’s Spring Garden Auction will go towards continuing this valuable program next year. Without your community support, we would simply not be able to do what we do. Parkinson’s are so grateful for our partnership with the Rotary Club of Oakleigh Clayton Huntingdale.”
