2024 Vocation Awards
The 2024 Vocation Awards Dinner was attended by 45 people from a range of sources. Attendees included guests from a variety of Rotary Clubs, the award recipients and their family and friends, and representatives from the organisations which train and employ our award recipients.
Our Rotary guests included District Governor Colin Byron and his partner Leanne, Regional Community Leader Murray Wilson, and Geoff Double, David Button and Andrew Somers from the Berwick Rotary Club. We also had 2 surprise guests from the Bombay Rotary Club who presented Felicity with their banner.
Unfortunately, Ann Moore from the Holmesglen TAFE was unwell and could not attend, however Lauren Haddad from the Monash Children's Hospital, and Athena Kontonis from OC Connections were present representing their respective organisations.
Our award recipients all had great support from their families and friends, all who attended enjoyed celebrating the achievements of our following award winners.
PERC MOORE AWARD. TYE HODGSON
LEN AND EDNA HAWKETT AWARD. KATE VANDENBERG
ALLEN JAMES AWARD. JESS KRITZER
BILL NORLING AWARD. MITCHELL WARD.
All our award recipients were very excited and extremely grateful to receive their scholarships, and they were all a credit to their families, their friends and their employees. Congratulations to them all on their outstanding work in their various vocations.
An unusual, but very interesting aspect of the night was that two of our guests Geoff Double and Athena Kontonis were past winners of two of our vocational awards. Geoff was the 1978 winner of the Perc Moore Award and still works in the Horticulture field, and Athena Kontonis won the Allen James Award many years ago and still continues to work at OC Connections in the disability field
I thank everyone who attended, and all those who helped on the night and throughout the process during the year.
