Under the leadership of President Bronwen, a strong contingent of Members & Partners turned up at Holmesglen Station on Saturday 20 March for the 100 Year Celebration Baton Relay train ride & Celebratory Function hosted by the city of Monash, in the Council Offices at Glen Waverley.
Jackie Gleeson on behalf of our Club, accepted the Baton from Glen Waverley Rotary Club & handed it on at Waverley Rotary Club at Jordanville. All clubs in the cluster participated in the exchange before we arrived at Glen Waverley and proceeded to the Council Offices.
Deputy Mayor Cr Shane McCluskey welcomed all in attendance & highlighted the important role Rotary played in the Community following which Sue Cornelissen gave an excellent presentation summarising the role all of the Clubs played in the Monash Community.
This was followed by all Club Presidents sharing the cutting of the 100-year anniversary cake.
The function was attended by Oakleigh Ward Councillor Theo Zographos. District Governor Alma Reynolds had a big smile on her face & looked very pleased with the morning’s activities.
